North Gippsland FLToday’s era of Blues will be looking to claim victory in front of past ROSEDALE premiership players as the club hosts the 50 year reunion of the 1958 premiership side.

Stringing together a run of victories over the past four weeks the Blues continue to gain momentum, round 11 signaling the beginning of a tough three weeks on the fixture.  Rosedale to host the red hot second placed Boisdale Bombers before taking to the road against ladder leaders Gormandale next week.

This week’s opponent BOISDALE made it five consecutive wins when they narrowly escaped with the points against a persistent Sale City.

Not dissimilar both sides boast a number of avenues to goal, Rosedale’s Ben Macreaide and Brad Caldwell the pick of the goal kickers for the Blues the pair having scored 61 goals between them Macreadie kicking nine of his 30 against Woodside.

While the Bombers have benefited from the recruitment of Matt Forsyth, Forsyth adding a much needed dimension to the Bombers forward line this season having scored 22 goals to date while coach Andrew Gieschen has consistently scored multiple goals each week on his way to 21.

While both sides attack has been the talking point the two sides defence has worked tirelessly in past weeks, the Blues containing Woodside to a low 39 points while the Bombers defence with stood the Dogs in a high scoring second term of football last week.

In their present form the best way to pick a winner may be with a toss of the coin.

Former Sel Burley medalist and premiership player David Downes has been in scintillating form with SALE CITY over the past month, Downes exhibiting some of his best football since moving to the Dogs last season.

This week the former Saint will need to be at his best to contain the dominating GORMANDALE midfield that had no problem brushing aside Churchill last Saturday.

Pointing out to his side at his quarter time addressing Tiger coach Steve Hazelman let his side know that there had been a cloud over the Tigers performances over the past three weeks.

The Tigers silencing recent critics with a dominating 10 goal to two opening half against the second placed Cougars.

This week the Tigers can ill afford to take the match lightly against the Dogs.  City’s efforts last week indicating they are a quality outfit that can match it with the competitions best, regardless of their season ledger of three wins.

Despite coming up short against a top team, the Dogs will take plenty from the match against Boisdale and will be sure to build on their consistency to pull together a solid four quarter effort against Gormandale.

CHURCHILL will be out to regain some lost pride when they play COWWARR.

Dropping their past two matches in convincing fashion against fellow top five contenders, the Cougars will be aiming to put their season back on the right track against the Saints.

Loosing coach Leigh McDonald in the opening term last week, the Cougars struggled from the onset as they failed to match the strength of the dominating ladder leaders.

This weeks task will be just as great the Cougars now sitting level on six wins a piece with Rosedale and Glengarry the three sides making up the bottom half of the five, a win a must for Churchill who have a number of big matches ahead namely the grand final reply in round 12.

While Churchill is in a commanding position to partake in finals action this week’s opponent Cowwarr’s chances are narrowly slipping from beneath them, the Saints season on the line in coming weeks.

The Saints will need to back themselves to revive their season, Tim Johnston one Saint who has his sights set on finals action.  The forward has been a solid contributor all season notching up possessions and scoring an average of three goals a week, Johnston finishing last weeks match with six majors.

At their home ground the Cougars will take the points in a tough contest.

TTU continues to serve up quality football against the competitions front runners, the Bombers last week claiming their third win of the season.

This week they will aim to knock over HEYFIELD who enduring a lull in form last week. The Roos outplayed from the onset by Glengarry who rebounded strongly from their past loses to knock over the reigning premiers to the tune of 38 points.

Sitting in sixth and eighth position on the premiership ladder standings, the Bombers sit two games shy of Heyfield however in their present form TTU are displaying high quality football and will be sure to provide the Roos with a tough contest.

Dropping outside the five, this weeks round is a must win for a number of the competitions sides however for Heyfield it is imperative for the Roos to stay in touch with the log jam in the middle part of the ladder if they are to keep their finals chances a reality.

For the Bombers however there is plenty of pride on the line as TTU looks to improve on their win lose ledger in the second half of the season.

The previous battle of the cellar dwellers will take a different meaning this Saturday when fifth placed GLENGARRY hosts tenth placed STRATFORD.

The two clubs have battled out a number of tough contests over the past two years with the ledger level at two games a piece.

While Glengarry has shown vast improvement over the past two seasons under coach Matt Adams, the history that stands between the two sides continually sets the stage for an epic contest in the battle of the birds.

Returning to form last week the Pies appear to have too much depth to be troubled by the Swans who come off the weeks rest.
