Picola & District FLBerrigan were only a goal down at ¾ time last week before Katunga blew them away & the Saints will be keen to put in a four quarter effort this week.  Picola Utd have started well & will be keen to keep winning.
Berrigan v Picola Utd
Key Players:
Berrigan: Jamie Bond, Brendan Spence, Brett Bathman
Picola Utd: Dave Daniel, Travis Gilby, Aaron Magner

Selection:
The Saints have class performers in Gerald Towler, Tim Cooper & Brendan Spence but they may struggle to hold Picola Utd over the entire game.  The Blues have a good mix of running and marking players and when on song they’ll be hard too stop.  While Berrigan will be wary of a fade out similar to last week, they may find the Blues will wear them down and pull away late in the game. Picola Utd by 28 points.

Jerilderie v Blighty
Blighty looked strong last week with to many guns for Yarroweyah & The Redeyes will be keen to keep that momentum going.  The Demons weren’t far away from Picola Utd and will fancy their chances to pinch a win here.

Key Players:
Jerilderie: Chris Hickey, Chris Marshall, Aaron Purcell
Blighty: Matt Wooden, Tristian Wilson, Paul Scoullar

Selection:
While a Jerilderie win wouldn’t completely shock, Blighty deserve favoritism And perhaps have enough scoring options to stretch the Demons defence.  Purcell & Scoullar are amoung the premier big men in the comp and if they go head to head  it will be an absorbing duel.  Blighty by 4 goals.

Yarroweyah v Strathmerton
The Hoppers host the Bulldogs with the teams bringing in vastly different form from their round 2 encounters.  The Dogs will have received a confidence boost from their stirring win over Rovers while Yarroweyah will be keen to bounce back after a loss to Blighty.

Key Players:
Yarroweyah:  Jim Daniel, Chris Cheong, Chris Lincoln
Strathmerton: Daniel Henderson, Andrew Taylor, Jai Bunge

Selection:
Hard too go past the Bulldogs who were great last week except for a lapse in the 2nd term.  Andrew Taylor is skilled & hard at it & in combination with coach Dickinson, Nathan Foote & ruck Adam Graham they form a more than handy on ball division & their clash with Hoppers Jim Daniel, Chris Cheong & Chris Lincoln will be pivotal. Premier Dog defender John Brunskill will hope a hamstring injury comes up & if so he’d pick up gun Hopper Lucas Olson while Yarroweyah’s Josh Noonan may be a good  option for the mobile Bulldog Drew Shadbolt. Select Strathy to win by 36 points.

Deni Rovers v Katamatite
Rovers will look to bounce back from it’s last gasp loss last week and we should see an electrifying start from the Deni boys.  Katy weren’t completely disgraced against Katandra & will look to remain competitive.

Key Players:
Deni Rovers: Benji Hardman, Gerard Robinson, Allan Bond
Katamatite: Damien Pendlebury, Daniel Bye, Jedd Wright

Selection:
Rovers will be disappointed in last week after being in control & Katy will need to hold on for dear life early on.  A couple of injury worries for Rovers with star on baler Andrew May looking to be carrying a leg injury & Deni will hope he comes up. Deni will have too many running and marking options for Katy to cover over four quarters and the Roos should have a good win.  Rovers by 7 goals.

Katandra v Wunghnu

The Kats did enough last week to keep Katy at arms length and will look to continue their unbeaten season opening. Wunghnu battled away in good style against a strong Tungamah & the Maggies were far from disgraced.

Key players:
Katandra: Cam Calder, Steve Lawless, Shane Venebles
Wunghnu: Ashley Hurd, Daniel Clarke, Aaron Shelton

Selection:
Katandra will be rapt to have Lawless back & he made an immediate impact last week and the Maggies will need to tag him.  Dudgeon gives a great target up forward & if Wunghnu allow him space he could kick a big bag. Bertoli and coach Hall for Katandra are rock solid at half back and provide great rebound and Wunghnu may battle to pass this impregnable wall often enough to stay in the game.  Aaron Shelton is talented & will need watching but it’s hard too see Wunghnu troubling Katandra for too long.  Kats by 60 points

Tungamah v Shepp East
Two teams with contrasting season openings with Tungamah undefeated & the Eagles searching for their first win. Two forward lines loaded with firepower clash and a tough day is assured for defenders.

Key Players:
Tungamah: Marcus Cummins, Tom Wren, Hayden Buckley
Shepp East: Chris Pearson, David Gibson, Scott Turner

Selection:
Shepp East need to pinch a win as a 0 -5 season start for the Eagles isn’t inconceivable.  Pearson and Turner give them scoring power while Chris Burke leads a solid defence.  Tungamah have been
impressive and possess a hard working midfield and forwards capable of kicking big bags of goals.  The Eagles will be desperate and a great game is assured but until Shepp East show some form it’s hard to tip them to beat a Bear lineup that has done nothing wrong.  Tungamah by 15 points.

Dookie Utd v Waaia
Match of the round for sure with two top class line ups clashing. The reigning premiers have started in style while Waaia has Signaled it is up and running with impressive early season form.

Key Players:
DU: Peter O’Donnell, Cam Ross, Chris Ludeman
Waaia: Chris Armstrong, Damien Atkins, Greg Meyland

Selection:
Early days but these sides look destined to occupy lofty rungs on the ladder for 2008 & this will be a great game.  Both sides have running players to burn and leading marking forwards will be a feature of the day.  Chris Ludeman is one of the most dangerous players in the comp near goals and Waaia will tag him
while at the other end, Greg Meyland is kicking goals for the Bombers.  Ruck duels between DU coach Osborne and Waaia’s Nick Tyack will be vital with perhaps Tyack’s input being the key to his teams’ chances today.  A literal toss of the coin and home ground advantage leads to selecting Dookie Utd but not with great confidence.  Dookie Utd by 1 point.

Katunga v Mathoura
The Swans will look to carry on last weeks’ final quarter when they blitzed Berrigan while Mathoura will try hard to ensure it is in the game for long enough to pinch a win

Key Players
Katunga: Nick Howden, Josh Evans, Ash Howden
Mathoura: Shane Railton, Matt Sparey, Clint Starkey

Selection:
The Swans through mercurial Nick Howden, young Josh Evans & Jason Cassimaty have avenues to goal and a midfield capable of giving them heavy supply.  Ash Howden is leading a solid defence which the Timber Cutters may struggle to penetrate. Mathoura will plug away but seem a bit undermanned to topple the in form Swans.  Katunga by 40 points
