North Gippsland FLCHURCHILL and BOISDALE will meet in North Gippsland Football Netball League match of the round.

Rocketing up the ladder standings in past rounds following three consecutive home wins the Bombers will leave the confines of their home turf to take on the Cougars on the wide open spaces of Gaskin Park, a vast comparison to the smaller Boisdale ground.

Boisdale continue to evolve as a potential final contender, the Bombers coaching staff will be eager to claim a top three scalp with Churchill in their sights.  Having dropped their clashes to Gormandale and Glengarry, the Bombers will be looking to gain the mental edge and additional confidence as they embark on the second half of the draw and run home to finals.

In contrast Churchill’s confidence continues to grow, the Cougars convincing winners in past rounds the side having only dropped the one game back in round three by four points.

The Cougars have won the sides past four clashes, very little separated the two teams in 2006 however last season Churchill were dominant in claiming the points on both occasions.

The tables could be turned this weekend, Boisdale boasting a number more avenues to goal and better forward options then past seasons.  Matt Forsyth and Andrew Gieschen the catalysts in front of goals in past weeks, with Lee Forsyth continuing his dominating form in the midfield.

In their present form the Bombers will push the Cougars in what poses to be a close affair.

ROSEDALE will be primed after the weeks break as the Blues look towards a tough run on the fixture between rounds 11 to 14.

Before then STRATFORD stands in the way of the Blues securing their fifth win of the season.

The Swans riding high after sealing their first win in over one and half seasons.  The challenge now for Stratford is to refocus on the week’s task as they look to build on last rounds success as they host the Blues.

Fielding their best side this season the Swans benefited from the inclusion of the clubs 2007 best and fairest winner Ben Channing. Stratford’s attack bolstered by the return of Tim Light after a four week absence the forward having no trouble finding the goals finishing the match with nine.

While Stratford looks to make it two on the run, Rosedale will focusing on adding to their win lose ratio of four-three.  The Blues sit level with last years premier Heyfield and Cowwarr on the ladder standings, last years preliminary finalists need to seize victory to ensure stay in touch with the top five.

Rosedale will hit their straps and break clear of the middle of the table pack to lay claim to potential final five standing.

A renewed rivalry between HEYFIELD and COWWARR will be rife when the two sides fight to stay in touch with the top of the table sides.

Cowwarr hasn’t beaten the Kangaroos since round 10 of their premiership season the Saints holding the edge over Heyfield during their 2006 campaign.  The two clubs were fierce rivals during the mid eighties the rivalry renewed in past seasons when the two sides contested the 2005 grand final.

This weeks clash is priming to be another classic tussle, the two sides are evenly matched in many aspects of their game.

Both sides have claimed the scalp of a top three side in past weeks adding renewed confidence to the two improving lists.  The two sides sit level on five wins, Heyfield sitting inside the five with a superior percentage over seventh placed Cowwarr.

Averaging 99 points a game, the tone is set for a high scoring shoot out at both ends of the ground.  Cowwarr’s forward structure of Tim Johnston and Chris Stasinowsky leading the charge in front of goals for the Saints the pair having kicked 37 between them for the season.

In comparison Heyfield’s leading goal scorer Nathan Wellins added four to his tally of 16 last week, the Roos sharing the scoring honors each week rather then relying on any one individual to kick a bag each week.

SALE CITY will be aiming to rebound from their 44 point lose at the hands of Stratford and seal their third win of the season when they host WOODSIDE.

A win for either side this week is essential, Sale City’s last victory recorded some six weeks ago while league newcomers the Wildcats are yet to record their maiden victory.

Held in the second and fourth quarters the Dogs scoring opportunities were limited last week, although the side boasted seven individual goal scorers assistant coach Luke Hopman was the sole multiple goal kicker finishing the match with two the goals were far and few between.

The Dogs game structure was endured many changes over past rounds the sides horrid run of injuries opening the door for a number of the clubs younger players to step up to senior football filling the void of the more experienced band of players.

Gaining invaluable match practice each week the Dogs youth will aid them in marching to an emphatic victory.

TTU will meet four of last year’s finalists in coming weeks as they embark on a challenging run on the fixture.

This week they meet GORMANDALE, the ladder leaders coming off the back of their first lose of the season.

As many a side has found this season meeting the Tigers on any occasion is a tough assignment let alone the added challenge of meeting a rebounding Gormandale outfit.

Meeting Churchill in the top of the table clash next Saturday, the Tigers will be keen to get their game back on track before the round 10 blockbuster.

In their most impressive start to the season in past years the Tigers will have little trouble in claiming the points against the Bombers.
