BFNL - Prelim Final preview Print E-mail
Bendigo FL This will be the third time these two teams have played in five weeks.  Kangaroo Flat has the psychological edge having won the last encounter in torrid weather conditions.

A GRADE - Kangaroo Flat v Sandhurst
These two teams know each other so well that there will be few surprises on the day.  The most notable difference will be Sandhurst playing without coach, Ashleigh Cole, who injured her ankle recently.   Her replacement is well known premiership player and coach, Jannaya Webb.  Key match ups include:

Yasmin Thomas plays on both wings though is more effective at wing defence. She makes her opponent accountable for every possession.  Her opponent may be Stacey Randall, a steadying influence in Sandhurst’s attack.

Maddi Foott is the backbone of the Sandhurst defence leading by example with good aerial skills taking rebound possessions.  Her opponent will be Rebecca Hynes who has displayed excellent accuracy in her shots for goal.

Jannaya Webb brings a different dimension to the Sandhurst attack with her quick movement of the ball in and around the goal circle.  Jannaya will have a tough task against the Flat’s experienced defender, Alicia McGlashen.

A RESERVE - Kangaroo Flat v Golden Square
A close encounter should be on display with these two evenly matched teams.  Both teams rely on short, quick passes to hold possession while gaining court advantage.  Kangaroo Flat’s Elise O’Callaghan combines well with Rebecca Kevin to drive the ball from defence into attack.  The same goes for Golden Square’s Tara O’Toole and Kayla Gardner.

B GRADE - Golden Square v Sandhurst
Golden Square has had the upper hand this season with experienced players Kirsten Pollock and Roz Pentland the strength of the team guiding their younger team mates.  Sandhurst has come through from the elimination final accounting for Eaglehawk and Gisborne.  The Hurst’s Kristen Woodcock has a height advantage in the goal circle while team mate Jessica Watson has been a steadying influence in the mid court.

17 & UNDER - Golden Square v Kangaroo Flat
Golden Square was impressive in its match against Sandhurst in the second semi final constantly applying pressure in each third of the court.  Rhiannon Judd plays a tight defensive game along with Hannah Knipe.  Kangaroo Flat’s goalers will need to be at the top of their game to gain any advantage.  Cassie Spears has the height to trouble her opponents.  Combined with Chelsea Goulden in goals, Kangaroo Flat has a real chance of winning.
