The match was similar to the grand final with Morwell forwards Clare Allison and Jennifer Duncan setting up the visitor's win with accurate shooting.

The return of state under 21 player Kate Eddy, who played centre, lifted the Magpies, while Mel Johnston was great in defence.

The sides were level at quarter-time before the Tigers claimed a two-goal lead at half-time.

The Magpies closed the gap to one by the end of the third term before the Tigers steadied to win by five.

Maffra followed up its first round win over Sale with a 44-29 victory at Bairnsdale on Sunday.

The win puts the Eagles in third place, level on points with leaders Drouin and Morwell, and fourth-placed Traralgon.

In other matches, Drouin thumped Warragul 91-13, Leongatha defeated Wonthaggi 63-42 and Traralgon had a 50-44 win over Moe
