oandmHerald Sun | COULD Fev be coming to a club near you? After three-and-a-half years donning the boots for Yarrawonga — plus cameos at a couple of other clubs around the traps along the way — former Carlton and Brisbane star Brendan Fevola is set to fly the coop at season’s end.

The 34-year-old has kicked 337 goals in 62 matches for the Pigeons, played in their 2012 and 2013 premierships and even has the bird tattooed on his ankle, but says being closer to his family is behind his decision to pull up stumps and head back to Melbourne.

At this stage he’s unsure whether he’ll be hitting the field in 2016, but Western Region Football League Deer Park has reportedly already flagged its interest.

“I have had a few people inquire about next season but I’ll move back to Melbourne and see how I go,” he told the Border Mail.

“Family is the main thing.

“I don’t know if I’ll play yet ... I’m getting old.

Brendan Fevola was a major attraction for Yarrawonga.
“At the moment I’m a bit too far away from the kids and I need to get back to Melbourne to help Alex out more.

“Memory wise I will always have Yarra in my heart. I have the club tattooed on my body. It’s an amazing town with the most amazing people.

“It will be a sad time when I play my last game for the club.”

Fevola, who played 204 games of AFL and kicked 623 goals, is set to return from an ankle injury for Yarrawonga’s elimination final — against either Wodonga or North Albury — on September 6.
