oandmHerald Sun | FORMER AFL stars Brendan Fevola and Jason Akermanis have engaged in a war of words after the Brownlow medallist was seen to be “dobbing” in Fev’s teammates following a loss in last week’s Ovens and Murray Football League finals.

Fevola was unhappy with Akermanis and said the former Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs star, who now coaches North Albury, went out of his way to try to “stitch up” several Yarrawonga players after last week’s elimination final.

Fevola lashed out at Akermanis, saying he had sought video reviews of incidents after the fiery clash, which Yarrawonga won — ending North Albury’s season.

“Their season’s over and he’s (Akermanis) gone over the tape and put in five cases that he thinks are reportable incidents and they get thrown out,” Fevola told the Border Mail.

“If someone did something bad, fair enough.

“But to try and stitch five of our players up, come on mate.

“It’s country footy, for god’s sake.

“The whole footy club is p***ed off.”

Akermanis said he felt within his rights to submit the reviews, calling for Fev’s Pigeons to clean up their act.

“... We lost because we didn’t play well enough,” Akermanis said.

“(But) to find no one accountable doesn’t give me much faith in the (video review) system.

“Those (Yarrawonga) boys continue to get away with roughing up our blokes.

“They are a dirty team and they get away with it.”

Yarrawonga plays a knockout semi-final against the Wodonga Raiders tomorrow.
