nthgiplogoGippsland Times | TTU full forward Chase Saunders had a day out on Saturday, booting seven goals in the Bombers victory over Glengarry.

But the teams to watch in 2016 will be the undefeated first placed Sale City and second placed Woodside.

Both posted impressive victories on Saturday in the North Gippsland Football League.

SALE City staged another four-pointer in a well organised and somewhat predictable rout over the hapless Cougars, winning 23.18 (156) to 13.12 (90).

The Bulldogs are proving they are the benchmark of the NGFNL competition after round three.

The first quarter was a tightly-fought arm wrestle, with the Bulldogs holding on to a slender four point buffer at quarter time, 4.6 to 4.2.

A six goal to three second term saw the Dogs extend their margin to 23 by half-time.

Any hopes that the Cougars had were dashed in the second half as the Bulldogs kicked away to a commanding lead, more than doubling their half-time score, while Churchill could only manage six goals after the main break.

In a percentage boosting win for the Dogs, it was Sale City by 66 points.

The major goal kickers for Sale City were T. Morrison with five and J. Schuback and B. Walker with four apiece, while for Churchill N. Campbell kicked 5.

Best on ground for Sale City were T. Warry, J. Schuback, J. Tollner, T. Morrison, J. McLay, and T. Wilson, while for Churchill the best players were N. Campbell, L. Towns, L. Brereton, C. Williams, J. Fenech, and K. Holt.

TRARALGON Tyers United destroyed Glengarry 17.12 (114) to 9.13 (67).

Looking down a nil-two barrel, it was time for a local hero to step up, and Chase Saunders did just that when he bagged seven to help TTU register its first win of the 2016 season over Glengarry on Saturday.

The Magpies have demonstrated a marked improvement this season, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bombers as they accounted for the Maggies in convincing style.

Both teams were evenly placed in the first term, but the Bombers kicked away in the second with a six goal to one quarter to lead by 31 at half time.

TTU were never really challenged from then on, leading by 40 points at three quarter time before cruising to a comfortable 47 point victory.

The major goal kickers for TTU included Saunders with seven and L. Albanese with three, while for Glengarry O'Mara kicked two.

The best players for TTU were Saunders, M. Stolk, R. Cochrane, L. Albanese, M. Stolarczyk, and L. Pollard, while for Glengarry the best players were G. White, L. O'Mara, B. Truin, C. Ross, M. Diaz, and J. Read.

Yarram defeated Heyfield comfortably, winning 19.9 (123) to 5.9 (39).

The Demons arguably had the toughest draw against some stiff opposition in the first three rounds, so they should be happy with where they are placed as a team after round three.

Their current win/loss ratio doesn't accurately reflect how good this team really is, and with a long way to go in 2016, expect the Demons to have a genuine crack this September.

Yarram got out to an excellent start, kicking an unassailable six goals to nil to lead by 35 points at quarter time.

Five goals to one second quarter set up a match winning 58 point lead to Yarram by half time.

From there on it was a rout, with no hope of a Kangaroos comeback. C. Sutherland tore the game apart in the second half, booting six for the day to help the Dees annihilate the Kangaroos by 84 points.

The main goal kickers for Yarram included Sutherland with six and McDonald with three, while for Heyfield J. Woodland and D. Boulton kicked two apiece.

The best on ground for Yarram included C. Bruns, M. Clavarino, G. Underwood, C. Sutherland, L. Rodaughan, and T. Chisholm, while for Heyfield the best players were S. Anderson, J. Woodland, M. Stevenson, R. Stevenson, K. Woodland, and J. Conway.

WOODSIDE continued their unbeaten run posting a commanding win over Gormandale, 20.19 (139) to 14.16 (100), to cement second spot on the NGFNL ladder; the best start to a season by the Wildcats in the modern era.

Gormandale certainly weren't disgraced, kicking 14 goals in a respectable loss to a good team.

The Wildcats on the other hand have a long way to go until September, but should be well pleased with what they have accomplished thus far in 2016.

The Wildcats started well, leading by nine at quarter time.

A six goal to three second term saw them extend the margin to 24 points at the main break.

The second half was fairly evenly poised, with the Cats again extending their lead to 39 by three quarter time, and maintaining that same margin until the final siren.

For Woodside, T. Arthur top scored with five goals and M. Nelson kicked three, while for Gormandale C. Portalej kicked six.

ROSEDALE Blues demolished Cowwarr 21.12 (138) to 5.6 (36) at home on Sunday.

Former St Kilda and Richmond AFL legend Danny "Spud" Frawley and Melbourne Vixens netball star Teagan Philip were there to greet the fans at the More Street Oval in Rosedale on Sunday, for the WorkSafe game between Rosedale and Cowwarr.

After a seven goal first quarter, the Sainters could barely keep up with the home team.

Rosedale's Brandon Mcdonald was best on ground with a show-stopping seven goal performance, with support from Brad Scott's four goals.

S. Tudor, M. Royal, F. Brouns, L. Stuckey, and R. Diamond also impressed for the Blues, while best for Cowarr were S. Moran, S. Alexander, B. Street, V. Johnston, and C. Distefano.
