KDFLWeekly Times | AN EARLY goal-kicking standard has been set for country footy, with a bag of 28 goals kicked by one player on the weekend.

Rob Osborne set a club record for Rushworth after slotting 28 goals for the Tigers in Round 2 of the Kyabram District Football League clash with Ardmona on Saturday.

The Tigers won 54.25 (349) to 0.1 (1).

Osborne’s tally is a club record for a senior player, according to club president Peta Williams, smashing the previous record of 16 set by James Martin in 2011.

“(Osborne) kicked 10 in the first quarter and everyone was saying this is going to be a record,” Williams said.

“The number 16 for the club came up, but no one was quite sure what the league record was. Names and numbers were talked about.”

However the haul is not a league record — Craig Whelan booted 34 goals for Violet Town against Ardmona in 2012, finishing with 168 goals in a premiership year.
