stawell swiftsWimmera-Mail Times| SWIFTS have finals in their sights after a two-goal win against Rupanyup at the weekend.

The Baggies now move into sixth spot of the Horsham District Football Netball League ladder.

Swifts took the lead early and stayed a goal ahead of the Panthers at each change, with the final score being 11.11 (77) to 9.11 (65).

Swifts coach Paul Hanns said the season had been a mixed bag. “We haven’t been close to full strength for a while because of injuries,” he said.

“Saturday was a test for us and it was good to come away with the win, especially given Rupanyup has been more competitive.”

The Baggies were boosted by the inclusion of junior players. “Brodie Huston played his first game, as was Matt Carey, and both of them looked like they had played a number of senior games - they were really composed,” Hanns said.

He said the Swifts would now looked to continue their good form.

“We will go week by week and hopefully get a few more wins on the board,” he said.
