BUNINYONG has inflicted Bungaree's first defeat of the Central Highlands Football League campaign with a memorable triumph on home soil.

The Bombers collected their best win of the season thus far with a fighting seven-point victory over the ladder-leading Demons on Saturday afternoon.

Buninyong showed fierce intensity to open up a 20-point advantage by quarter time and led the contest until five minutes into the final term when Bungaree began its charge. Goals from full forward Josh Brown, Mitch Bruns and Luke Mirtschin gave the Demons a 10-point advantage and all the momentum as the visitors looked to be running away with the match. However, the Bombers' never-say-die attitude again kicked into play, with Sam Turner, Anthony Ebery and Jarrod Rodgers all booting majors to steal back the lead and hold it for the remaining eight or so minutes until the final siren.

Turner was clearly the best player on the ground, with the classy onballer collecting a stack of possession on top of his three important goals, while coach Jarrod Morgan bobbed up at important times to finish with two majors. But it was the performance of the Bombers' lesser likes that was probably the difference in the result, with the likes of young up-and-comer Billy Jones having a good day out.

There was few four-quarter contributors for the Demons, but Bruns was probably the team's best off half back, while star midfielder Chris O'Keefe breezed in at times with his brilliance threatening to take the game away from the hosts in the third and fourth terms.

Brown was the danger man up forward, with a couple of one-handed marks contributing to his three goals.

Bungaree remains on top of the ladder despite the defeat, but is just two points clear of the Bombers, which are third.

Meanwhile, Gordon continued on its winning streak with a 32-point victory against Learmonth, Springbank landed an important 65-point triumph against Carngham-Linton and Daylesford thumped Clunes by 81 points.
