swanpoolWeekly Times | SWANPOOL Football Club president Cameron Gray remains confident of a “satisfactory outcome” in the club’s court case against Ovens and King Football League after the latest hearing last week.

The football club has accused its league of acting in an oppressive manner, and in March amended its claims to seek to be included in next year’s fixture as well as $25,000 in damages.

This is the second season off the field for both Swanpool and another Ovens and King club, Tatong, after they refused an AFL North East Border recommendation to merge with Goorambat.

Swanpool president Cameron Gray attended Thursday’s hearing and said the club’s committee met that night.

He would not comment publicly on the hearing, but said the other options the club was looking at were “all based on the outcome of the legal action”.

“We’re still confident of a satisfactory outcome I suppose and we will see Swanpool in some form back on the field next year. What form that is we’re not 100 per cent sure,” he said.

The latest hearing came less than a week after Swanpool and Tatong jumpers and dresses were dusted off for matches between the two clubs on May 23.

Gray said there were enough participants for one football and two netball games.

AFL NEB region general manager John O’Donohue declined to comment while the case was before the court.
