katamatiteWeekly Times | A  FOUR-GAME winning streak has played a big part in qualifying Katamatite for finals in the Picola and District league South East division.

The Tigers won four straight matches between Rounds 4 to 7 in a competition with eight sides, but won only two matches outside of that hot streak in 18 rounds. But they have remarkably qualified for the elimination final against Dookie United on Sunday with a win-loss record of 6-12 and a percentage of 52.17.

“Our form in the last half of the year probably hasn’t been the greatest but we’ve managed to make it,” playing coach Tyson Saunders said.

“It’s funny how in some seasons, luck doesn’t go your way and others it does.”

There is potential for several changes to the Tigers’ team, including Saunders who was battling a respiratory infection last weekend. Katamatite defeated Dookie United in Round 10, but lost in two other meetings.

In 2012, Dookie United made it into finals with six wins and 77.8 per cent, but did not survive the elimination final.
