vcflchampslogoWeekly Times | THE countdown is on with the AFL Victoria Country Championships just days away.

Thirty-two leagues will battle for supremacy and the chance to move up the rankings table on Saturday.

The Geelong Football League is seeking to defend its number one ranking from the same side it won it from in 2013, the Goulburn Valley Football League.

But just like the Goulburn Valley league attempted two years ago, Geelong will try to hold its position on foreign soil, with Goulburn Valley hosting this rematch at Shepparton’s Deakin Reserve.

At the same venue earlier in the day, the Kyabram and Mininera district leagues will face off to get off the bottom rung of the rankings.

With the Mallee league withdrawing from the competition after dropping to five clubs this season and Tallangatta and District competing alongside the northeast leagues, the 29th-ranked Riddell and District league and the 13th-ranked Nepean league will play against each other at Macedon.

Six leagues in Victoria’s northeast and southern NSW will again take part in interleague encounters on the same date but are not included in the rankings.

Scroll down for more on the interleague schedule and interleague teams as they come to hand.
