Jacobsen to be courtside for WorkSafe Game of the Month

North Gippsland FLMelbourne Vixens player Wendy Jacobsen and former Australian Netballer Shelley O’Donnell will be special guests at Heyfield’s clash with Cowwarr Saints at the Gordon Street Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

With Netball Victoria nominating the clash as the WorkSafe Game of the Month, Jacobsen and O’Donnell will be making the trek to the town.

Jacobsen is excited about the WorkSafe game of the month function.

“This is a great opportunity for elite players to give something back to the sport at the grassroots level and give the young players out there something to aspire to.

“Many of the Vixens began their careers playing country netball.”

Jacobsen will conduct a Junior Netball Clinic for the Heyfield Netball Club under 13 team,
prior to the WorkSafe Game of the Month lunch.

Ten year veteran of the Australian National Team and inaugural captain of the Melbourne Kestrels, O’Donnell will act as guest speaker.

O’Donnell will provide the audience with an insight into the rigorous training regime and life as an elite netballer.

Jacobsen and O’Donnell will then move courtside for the A grade match between Heyfield and Cowwarr at 2.30pm with the Kanagroos eager to continue their stellar form this season.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the game of the month with Netball Victoria and Work Safe,” Heyfield Football Netball Club netball delegate Donna McAinch said.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our club and give back to the loyal sponsors and community through the WorkSafe luncheon knowing that the benefits of this day will be felt from the youngest members of junior netball, all the way through to our senior coaching staff.”

Competition starts at 9am with Under 17, followed by D Grade before Access for All Abilities Netball Demonstration Match, prior to the C and B Grade matches.

A carnival family day is planned with a jumping castle, face painting to entertain the crowd.
