Lexton Plains FL - Preliminary Final review 2009

Lexton Plains FLCarngham-Linton clinically disposed of Rokewood-Corindhap from the RegionalOne Lexton Plains Football League finals series on Saturday at Natte Yallock.

The 63 point win, 20.3 (123) to 8.12 (60), has put the Saints into yet another grand final against Skipton at Learmonth, and on track for a fourth consecutive premiership.

The Saints were far too accomplished for Rokewood-Corindhap from the opening siren.

They led by 29 points at quarter time, including a morale sapping goal after the siren, to have the match in its grasp.

The Saints midfield was in control, with the Grasshoppers finding it hard to put the ball into a scoring position.

The margin increased in each term, as Carngham-Linton did as it liked.

Its often maligned forward line was at its best, with six goals to Jarrod Burt a feature.

Clint Ladiges chimed in with five, but the midfield of David Breen, Jade Keam, Jason Hill and James Templeton was the area continually pumping the ball forward.

Nathan Wemyss played his usual solid game in defence.

The returning Rokewood-Corindhap coach, Tom Mullane-Grant, found himself stationed between full-forward and half-back, in an attempt to get his side going.

But it was a forlorn attempt, as his team slipped further behind as the game went on.

And when Mullane-Grant dislocated his kneecap a minute into the final term, it was just the final straw in what was a disappointing day.

Xavier Ryan (two goals) tried hard all day, while Denis Biscan (two) finished his season with a good game.

Though not the difference, the Grasshoppers did miss Jason Hutchins in defence.

The result showed the indifferent form of the Grasshoppers, and could not have come at a worse time.

It was a complete turn around for the Saints from two weeks ago, when it kicked 9.17, also against Rokewood-Corindhap.

They could not be going into the grand final in better form.

Goals: Carngham-Linton: Jarrod Burt 6, Clint Ladiges 5, Nick O’Brien 3, Damon Aspland 2, Robbie Greenbank, Jake Pring, Jason Hill, Rob Mosby 1. Rokewood-Corindhap: Xavier Ryan, Tom Mullane-Grant, Denis Biscan 2, Carl Matheson, Evan Mason 1.

Best: Carngham-Linton: James Templeton, David Breen, Nathan Wemyss, Jade Keam, Jason Hill, Joel Kelly. Rokewood-Corindhap: Denis Biscan, Evan Mason, Ross Arnall, Ethan Johnstone, Cam Griffith, Xavier Ryan.
