Lexton has broken a five year winning drought against Carngham-Linton in the Kingprint Lexton Plains Football League.
The Tigers scored an important 16 point win at Linton on Saturday, 11.13 (79) to 10.3 (63).
The win turned out a struggle at the end despite leading by 38 points at half-time.
Carngham-Linton hit back, especially in the third term, and trailed by just eight points during the final quarter.
But Lexton responded to the challenge to record its second win of the year.
It helps erase their two disastrous loses to the Saints last year, by 114 and 123 points.
But more importantly keeps the Tigers in touch with the leaders.
Nick Locandro (four goals) was in everything.
He took the mark of the day with a towering leap, and will prove a key in the Tigers climb up the ladder.
Carngham-Linton lost coach Duane Bodey to a neck injury in the second term, but the side rallied in the second half.
The Saints defended well, and had a solid midfield, but had no-one up forward that was able to take the game by the scruff.
James Templeton and former Ararat Eagle Dylan Lesock each booted two goals.

Navarre retained the Hannett-Ross shield with a 41 point win over Natte-Bealiba in the Kingprint Lexton Plains Football League at Natte Yallock on Saturday.
Playing its first away game for the year, Navarre took a little while to click into gear, with good pressure applied by Natte-Bealiba in the opening term.
But six goals to nil in the second quarter set the game up for the Grasshoppers, who went on to record a 14.7 (91) to 7.8 (50) victory.
Natte-Bealiba kicked some consolation goals in the final period, but the match was out of its reach.
Steven Ross was best for the Swans while Navarre coach Ben Martin continued his good form.
The victory places Navarre third on the ladder, a game clear of Carngham-Linton and Lexton, but it faces an acid test in five days against second placed Rokewood-Corindhap at Rokewood.
Natte-Bealiba will be up against Ararat Eagles in the Eagles first night game Saturday night.
