It wasn't the fairy tale ending Glengarry were hoping for to honour Trevor May in his 300th senior club match, with the Magpies proving no match for the rebounding CHURCHILL Cougars after quarter time.
One point separated the two sides at the first change before the Cougars piled on six unanswered goals to blow the margin out to 36 points midway through the second term.
The Cougars carried the momentum beyond the long change, led by Joey Whykes and Nic Campbell they put the opposition away after half time scoring 8.8 (56) to 6.5 (41) in the second half to run home comfortable 51 point winners.
Churchill burst out of the blocks frightfully quick, the Cougars hitting the ground running as they opened their account with the first three majors of the match.
Their first came in the opening 30 seconds of the contest when Campbell burst from the centre of the ground to register the home sides first.
Big man Andrew Brown added consecutive goals, before the Magpies found their groove and put their first on the board.
The game continued to swing with play moving back and forward between the half backlines before the momentum moved in Glengarry's favor.

Churchill started the second term in similar fashion to the first, with Brown slotting through his third.
Campbell had his second on the run before he added his third after roving Luke Johnsons kick to snap the Cougars third for the term.
It was a flurry of goals as the second placed Cougars ran the ball freely from one end to the other, as they hit open targets and scored with easy regularity.
300 gamer Trevor May combined with Jesse Bird tight in the pocket to register the Magpies fifth, but as the Cougars did at will throughout the match they quickly responded.
Whykes responded with the margin blowing back out to three goals, before the pacy midfielder had his second minutes later after undisciplined play by the Magpies defence saw the goal sneak gifted his second.
The flood gates looked poised to open when the Cougars registered their fifth for the term, as the Magpies backline quickly became under siege in an eight goal to two quarter.
The third term was a quiet affair with neither side able to make an impact early before the home side added the first three.
The margin blowing out to a massive nine goals before the Magpies dug deep and scored the final three for the term to reel the margin back to a more respectable six goals, 15.11 (101) to 9.8 (62).
The game was never beyond doubt after half time, the confidence of the Cougars grew as
Glengarry went south, as they scrapped for their goals.
Whykes was judged best on ground while Campbell ignited the Cougars on the run and in front of goals, Brown proved handy when rested from the ruck at full forward finishing the match with six majors.
WOODSIDE laid the foundation for its 18.12 (120) to 10.5 (65) win over Boisdale with an eight goal to three second quarter.
The match was evenly placed at the first change both sides desperation at the ball evident with the visitors Boisdale taking a seven point lead at the break.
