2010 Lexton Plains FL - Rnd 6 review

Lexton Plains FLSkipton has finally been pushed in the Kingprint Lexton Plains Football League.

The Emus managed to maintain its unbeaten run, but was pressured all the way by a determined Rokewood-Corindhap at Skipton on Saturday.

The winning margin of 29 points, 17.7 (109) to 12.8 (80), flattered Skipton a bit, as the Emus trailed at each of the first two breaks, before leading narrowly at the last change.

Tim Beacham proved the difference again kicking seven goals, with some final term majors when the game was still in the balance.

Skipton coach Tim McKay came into the side to replace Gus Thompson.

The Grasshoppers improved on its effort from a week ago, jumping Skipton in the first term.

Seven goals to coach Tom Mullane-Grant proved once again his importance, but his side could not maintain its pressure failing to goal in the last stanza.

Rokewood-Corindhap's Tim Fulton was a casualty from the game suffering a neck injury, while Emu defender Cam Brown has taken a weeks penalty after being reported for striking Mullane-Grant.

Illabarook opened its winning account scoring a 101 point victory over Ararat Eagles at Smythesdale on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were in total control from half way through the first term keeping the Eagles to 6.4 (40) for the game, the same score the Bulldogs kicked in the opening term.

Scoring 21.15 (141) itself, Illabarook kicked the highest score for the round, the first time it has done that since round 11, 2008, also against Ararat.

Jake Cahill was the star with eight goals, all after half-time.

New player Daniel Chant was also very good in his first game for Illabarook.

Ararat could not get into the match despite a breezy opening.

Brett McArthur (four goals) had two in the opening 11 minutes, and the Eagles looked switched on.

But that was their run done as Illabarook could not be stopped.

Navarre stretched its winning streak to four defeating Carngham-Linton by nine points at Navarre on Saturday, 11.19 (85) to 11.10 (76).

Navarre's inaccuracy almost cost it the game kicking 4.12 in the second half.

Ben Scott returned to the line-up and showed how important he is to Navarre's hopes.

The Saints were much better this week, but lacks some polish with their second loss under three goals.

James Templeton is getting back to his best for Carngham-Linton, but teammate Chris Addison was reported during the game.

Lexton had a comfortable 30 point win over Natte-Bealiba at Natte Yallock on Saturday.

Leading by seven goals at half-time, Lexton cruised in the second half to score 13.8 (86) to 8.8 (56).

Lexton proved too big and strong for Natte-Bealiba, who fall out of the top five after one week in.

Injuries to key players Brent Mortlock and Anthony Ross could hurt the Swans in weeks to come.

The Tigers scored their fourth win from six matches, the best start they have had to a season for five years.

Lloyd Bennett booted four goals for Lexton, while Karl Morley kicked three majors and was named best for Natte-Bealiba.
