Lexton accomplished Saturday what no other Kingprint Lexton Plains Football League club has achieved this year and that is to beat Skipton.
The Tigers won a pressure match by two points, 10.12 (72) to 10.10 (70) at Lexton.
But not before a fightback by Skipton which almost netted what would have been a stolen win.
Lexton was the better side for a large portion of the match, but could not fully shake Skipton.
Its biggest lead of the day was 20 points in the third term, but Skipton hit back hard in the final half hour.
Three goals in quick time had the scores level, with momentum on Skipton's side.
But to Lexton's credit it recovered from the challenge to hold on to the close victory in a desperate finish.
The win leaves Lexton just one win from top in a logjam of the first four.
Tim Oliver played a masterful game at full forward.
His three goals all came at important times of the match.
Matthew Hind kicked four goals for Skipton, but the Emus usual running game was stifled and their potent forward line was controlled.

Illabarook continued the upsets in the LPFL Sunday, scoring only its second win against Carngham-Linton at Linton.
The Bulldogs bring themselves into finals contention with its second win for the year following its 101 point victory in round six against Ararat Eagles.
They draw level with the Saints and Natte-Bealiba in what will now be a three way go for a finals spot.
For three quarters Sunday, little separated Illabarook and Carngham-Linton.
But a brilliant second term by the Bulldogs in which they scored five goals to nil, set up the historic 48 point win.
Each scored only two goals after half-time, but the horse had well and truly bolted.
The 10.17 (77) to 4.5 (29) victory, Illabarook's first in nine years against the Saints, was an even team performance in front of goal with Jake Cahill, Joel van Gils and Dan Gamble each kicking three majors.
Again coach Brian Lovison and centreman Shaun Webster were best.
Carngham-Linton continues to struggle after its huge player turnover pre-season.
It lost its fourth straight game, scoring its lowest ever score in the LPFL.
Clint Ladiges kicked two goals, as did full-back Nathan Wemyss, a sign of the Saints demise up forward.

Rokewood-Corindhap snapped a two match losing stretch, easily accounting for Natte-Bealiba at Rokewood on Saturday.
The Grasshoppers were never truly challenged in scoring the 76 point win, 16.17 (113) to 5.7 (37).
Rokewood-Corindhap opened with its best first quarter for the year, piling on seven goals.
But poor kicking for goal by the victors over the next two terms, in which 4.13 was kicked, saved the Swans from a bigger defeat.
Former league best and fairest Steven Ross kicked three goals for Natte-Bealiba, while Rokewood-Corindhap coach Tom Mullane-Grant took his goal tally to 44 after adding four in the match.
