Kangaroos bundled out of finals contention

North Gipplsand FLHeyfield appear set to miss partaking in finals action for the first time in 15 seasons, following the side's 38 point loss to ROSEDALE on Saturday.

Having been the hunted over the past decade the Kangaroos were simply outclassed by a sleek looking outfit that will play a big part in finals action.

The reigning premiers were in the contest at three quarter time but were unable to match the might of the Blues who ran rampant slamming on eight goals to three in the final stanza to coast home comfortable victors.

The win puts the Blues one game clear of the reigning premiers in sixth position, with four time Heyfield premiership player Damien Birss' chargers ironically putting the Kangaroos chances of making finals to bed.
Rosedale now set to play finals football for the first time during Birss three year tenure.

The inclusion of defender Luc Wilson and midfield dynamite Mitch Dowse to the Kangaroos line up looked set to aid the side, with their premiership defence hanging in the balance.

It was the visitors that got off to a flyer, Rosedale booting the first goal in the opening minute of the contest.

It was quickly followed with their second, the Blues rebounding strongly from defence to set up Andrew Flanagan for his first of four.

A strong mark to Sean Humphrey saw the tall open the home sides account with a shot directly in front of goal.

Both sides failed to capitalise on their opportunities as the ball concentrated between the two half back lines, neither side was able to break through the dogged defence.

A clever intercept by Jesse Bedggood from the Blues kick in sealed Heyfield's second, the home side taking a four point break into the first change.

An animated Stuart Anderson at the quarter time huddle demanded more from his side, but it was the Blues that started the second in the same fashion they started the first.

Clearing defence with precision kicking, Blue Ryan Carpenter regained the lead with his major.

The Kangaroos responded through Bedggood who dribbled the kick through the goals, Heyfield had their second in as many minutes after Lyell Berry pulled down a strong mark in front of defender Ben Missen to go back and goal.
The Blues responded to the challenge Rick Galea adding his first, Rosedale reeling in the premiers two goal buffer to level scores.

It was raining goals as Berry got one back before Blue Dale Fleming slotted a miraculous major from tight on the boundary.

At times it appeared the Blues were coasting along, the side responding to every challenge Heyfield provided them. While on the other spectrum the Kangaroos appeared to struggle, each time they appeared to gain the edge the Blues answered back.

Late term goals to Berry keeping the Kangaroos within two points at the long change, 8.6 (54) to 7.10 (52).
Rosedale burst out of the blocks in the premiership term, booting the opening two majors as they looked to take control of the game.

The margin quickly blowing out to one of the biggest of the match in 21 points before the home side responded.
The Kangaroos only major for the term coming from captain Andrew Stevens, who pulled down a screamer pack mark in the goal square before slotting through his first for the day.

The Blues were winning contests around the ground, Gerard Barnes had a stellar third term his pace around the packs and into the forward line was setting up plenty of play.

Chris King and Justin Emery were dogged in the engine room as they appeared to have the upper hand on the Dowse brothers Mitch and Nick who were impressive in their own right.

Jon Cantwell was impressive in the ruck against a more agile opponent, the big man instrumental in setting up King, Emery and Fleming who were ball magnets.

The final term was a white wash the Blues kicking eight goals to three, to end the contest.

The visitors were in control for the final 25 minutes of the match, the side clicking into over drive with their ball movement from defence into their forwards a key to their success.

SALE CITY rebounded from their second defeat of the season to make easy pickings of third placed Cougars, thumping Churchill by 104 points at Gaskin Park.

The Dogs were predictably in charge from the outset and always had the Cougars' measure, winning 24.18 (162) to 8.10 (58).

Trailing by four goals at the first change, Churchill needed to get off to a flying start in the second quarter.

But it was Sale City, who slammed on 9.5 (59) to 0.2 (2) who put the result beyond doubt.

The outclassed Cougars were best served by Joey Whykes and Daniel Hawking, while Anthony Martinac and Leigh McDonald were the pick of the goal kickers.

The Dogs shared the scoring load with 10 different goal scorers headed by Justin McLay (six), Jake Milham and Jake Schuback with four apiece.

McLay was judged best a field, with the Dogs latest recruit Joel Brayshaw impressive in his third senior appearance for the side.

The match between the two Bombers TTU and BOISDALE was an error riddled contest with Boisdale prevailing by 17 points.

The match was evenly placed at the first change both sides desperation at the ball evident with TTU taking a seven point lead at the break.

The visitors kicked three goals to one in the second term to keep within a major of the home side Bombers at the main change.

Boisdale broke away in third term on the score to extend the margin to 11 points, one of the biggest of the contest.

Boisdale's Joel Lambourn the pick of the forwards kicking five, with Leigh Fulford and Matt Freeman among the best.

For the home side Matt Scholz and Callum Laurie-Rhodes were impressive.

On Sunday GORMANDALE Tigers consolidated top place with a percentage boosting win over arch rival Glengarry.
Paul Richards kicked seven goals in a best on ground performance, while teammates Daniel Trease and Lee Stockdale chimed in with four a two respectively in the 37 point thrashing, 17.10 (112) to 11.9 (75).

The Tigers remain on top of the ladder and gained a handy percentage boost as they disposed of another flag contender; Gormandale's dominate forward structure of Richards and Trease again proving the match winning combination.

Jarrod Barnes and Paul Rouget were among the best for the Tigers, while Glengarrys Mark Engley worked hard for his three majors with Dean Brooks best a field for the Magpies.
