The North Albury Football Netball Club will hold its second annual Dreamtime at Bunton match this Saturday the 9th of July when the Hoppers host cross town rivals Albury.
SS&A O&MFNL operations officer Aaron McGlynn says the event is a fantastic initiative from the North Albury Football Netball Club to involve the local indigenous community with local football and netball.
"North Albury is at the fore-front of strengthening local ties between football/netball and the local community.
They pioneered the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Round across Country Football more than a decade ago and they looked to build on that with Dreamtime at Bunton in 2010. Last year's success has seen the event return this year."
This year's event will involve a traditional Welcome to Country address, smoking ceremony and Aboriginal Dance as well as a number of other events throughout the day. The best and fairest senior player on the day will be awarded the Robbie Murray Medal named after past North Albury indigenous club champion.
There will be some slight changes to match this throughout the day, noted below.
9:50am - 3rd Grade
11:50am - Reserves
2:15pm - Seniors
Dreamtime at Bunton is a combined effort from the Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service, the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement, the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation and the North Albury Football Netball Club.
