Round 1 of the Youth Girls Football Competition got underway on the weekend with some fantastic football played across the day. A large crowd was on hand to witness the event with around 400 people supporting the girls for their first games in the Ballarat Youth Girls Football League. Although one sided in both games, some exciting football was played and supporters are sure to be entertained in the coming weeks.
Wet and cold conditions greeted the girls for their first match, but didn't stop them from getting in and under, sliding through the mud. The conditions saw the girls laying plenty of tackles and bumps with a couple of minor casualties coming from the day. Plenty of goals were kicked with 21 across both games which was sure to have entertained the crowd. The day finished with the North Ballarat Eagles securing the minor premiership in the Victorian Women's Football League with an 18 point win over second placed Bendigo.
