Sitting in the top five for the majority of the season, perched in fourth position Saturdays result was an agonising one for Bombers supporters as TTU watched their chances of making finals slip from their grasp.
Dropping a number of close matches through the season one of the competitions biggest improvers appeared poised to shape a new look top five in 2011, but it wasn't too be with TTU sliding from four position to be relegated to finish the 20 round fixture in sixth, one game out of the five.
The battle between COWWARR and TTU was a game of two halves, with the Bombers falling agonisingly short of securing their first final appearance in over seven seasons.
Aiming to turn the tables on the sides round nine result the Bombers started sluggish with the Saints pace and ball use putting the visitors 23 points in front at the first change.
The momentum continued the way of the Saints as they appeared to take a match winning seven goal lead into half time, with Brad McBride leading the charge on the scoreboard.
But it was a rejuvenated Bomber outfit that emerged from the half time break.
Tim Aitken and Luke Middleton were damaging in front of goal, the pair aiding TTU to a five major to one term to trail by 23 points.
Cowwarr looked to maintain their strangle hold on the match as the Bombers kept their finals chances briefly alive as they mounted a challenge on the scoreboard, but the damage was done in the opening half the Saints recording a nine point victory 12.10 (82) to 11.7 (73).
Saint Jordon Bourke was named best on ground for his efforts in the midfield while Brett McMaster was solid off half back.
ROSEDALE have booked themselves an elimination berth for the second time in as many seasons following the sides win over Woodside.
The contest was evenly matched in the opening stanza as the Wildcats replied to the Blues challenge.
But it was a solid six goal second term which broke the contest open as Andrew Flanagan, the pacey Dale Fleming and Ross McDermott made the most of their opportunities in front of goal.
Fleming and McDermott demonstrated their versatility with a number of majors on the run as they burst from the middle of the ground. Consecutive majors late in the term gave the Blues a commanding 41 point lead at the long break.
Returning to the field it was Woodside that hit their straps early in the premiership term, Woodside's Clint Staley drilled through the first in the opening minute of the second half.
Before team mate Luke Pavey made up for an early miss to split the sticks with one of his three for the match.
Fleming made it consecutive majors after Rosedale defender Scott Johnstone swiftly moved the ball through the middle of the ground, the Blues showing great composure and skill on the run from half back.
Rosedale ruckman John Cantwell made his presence felt, dominating the ruck contests the big man made sure that his presence was felt in and around the contest. His hard work rewarded with a third term major.
Woodside youngster Ryan Foat was impressive the Wildcats tall finishing the match with four and assisting a number of majors as he created pace and value in the air.
Luke Pavey amassed possessions early in the second half creating play and dropping into the gap to set up his coach with a major.
Each time Woodside challenged the Blues responded, at times it wasn't free flowing clean footy but it was enough to get the job done and ensure Rosedale a finals berth 22.10 (142) to 13.7 (85).
Rosedale midfielder Justin Emery continued his stellar form of the second half of the season, Fleming was impressive creating run in the forward line while full forward Flanagan is primed for finals finishing the match with five.
For the Wildcats Staley was instrumental in creating something out of nothing time and time again, Phil Pavey worked hard to restrict the Blues running brigade while Foat worked hard all day.
Minor Premiers SALE CITY made light work of Boisdale/Briag, the Dogs boasting a five goal lead at half time one which they extended to 82 points by the final siren.
Bursting out of the blocks the flag favourites led by forward Jake Schuback were simply sublime. Booting six majors to Boisdale's three in the opening term the Bombers defence worked hard to guard the danger forward who needed a bag of 12 to mark the 100 goal milestone.
The power forward booted seven in the opening half to put himself in the box seat, before a 10 minute purple patch in the third term saw Schuback dominate the contest slamming on five majors. Schuback marking his 100th major with a soccer kick off the ground, the ball dribbling through the goals, to see the Dogs premiership player become the first player since Churchill's Nathan McDonald in 1998 to reach the milestone.
A 17 goal victory by CHURCHILL in Stratford's swan song match, saw the Cougars move into the top five at the expense of one of the competitions biggest improvers in 2011 TTU.

hinged on the results of not only their clash but the result between Cowwarr and TTU.
The Cougars hit their straps from the opening bounce, kicking five unanswered majors in the opening term to have the Swans defenders on their knees at quarter time. Churchill's charge on the scoreboard continued in the second quarter as the home side doubled their opening stanza score to take a commanding 61 point lead into the main break.
The home side kept the foot on the throttle to add a further nine goals to three in the second half.
A four goal haul by Nat Campbell, three each to Brendan Holt and Joey Whykes set the Cougars alight as they booted 19.23 (137) to Stratford's 4.6 (30). The Cougars comprehensive 107 point victory elevating the side's percentage by seven points which cemented the perennial finalist's fourth place.
A nine goal to three first half by GLENGARRY was the impetus for the second placed Magpies, 17.13 (115) to 8.12 (60) victory over Heyfield.
With finals in their sight and a tilt at premiership glory ahead the Magpies started strongly and didn't look back as they held a commanding lead at each change one that they would extend in their 55 point win.
Key forwards Aaron Winkler, Jack Robertson and Brad Smith turned it on in front of goals. The trio scoring three goals apiece in a dominating display.
Smith led from the front and was well supported by Ryan Potter who ensured the Magpies got first touch of the ball in the midfield, while Jack Jacobsen was instrumental in and around the contests.
For the Kangaroos coach Adrian Cox led from the front, versatile youngster Jack Woodland was a live wire while defender Chris Egan worked tirelessly in defence.
