The Final Premiership Cup

gvflThe Goulburn Valley Football League will be the last country Victorian football competition to anoint their 2011 premiers on Sunday and this final match of the season is sure to be worth the wait.

In the GVFL Grand Final, Shepparton United are looking for back to back flags but they will have to overcome the boys from Mooroopna who are competing in their first GVFL grand final for 25 years.

Midfielder Shaun Huy is a key for Shepparton United along with Matt Forys who is in great form. Ryan Normington will be a key in the midfield and Tim Looby is capable of anything at either end.

Shepparton United are a well balanced side with no obvious weaknesses. Tyson Sidebottom, brother of Collingwood's Steele, is captain of Shepparton and he has lead them exceptionally well all season as the team has barely put a foot wrong all year.

Mooroopna will be looking to coach Brad Campbell to lead the team strongly and the availability of Lachie Mcghie, who went down with an injury in the preliminary final, will be vital to Mooroopna's chances if he can get up and take his place in the ruck

Other key players include the Yze boys, including Damien the GVFL leading goal kicker from Mooroopna and gun midfielder Adem.

United have only lost two games all year, both times to Echuca, so they will enter the grand final as red hot favourites playing at home at Deakin Reserve.

But the Cats cannot be ignored; they have been building for a few years and just may have the hunger and fire power to pinch it.

The GVFL Grand Final is always one of the best attended in country football and this year will be no exception. The atmosphere and the quality of football make this a day not to be missed.

If you are a lover of true country football, then get along on Sunday to see which of these two great teams will take home the final premiership cup of 2011.
