IN ONE of the most bizarre games of country football, Laharum defeated Pimpinio in the Horsham and District League, despite kicking one goal for the game. Playing in atrocious conditions on Saturday, Laharum's Robert Miller kicked the game's first and only goal from a free kick in the first quarter before the side won 1.12 (18) to 0.6 (6).
Laharum coach Damien Bonworth said he had never been a part of a game like it.
"It rained the whole game, it was windy the whole game and the mud was pretty much over your boot," he said. "So when you were having a shot for goal, there was no such thing as a certainty."
Elsewhere, Redan handed East Point its first loss of the Ballarat League season, restricting the league leader to two goals in atrocious conditions, and winning by 30 points.
Kerang gained some revenge for its Central Murray League grand final defeat at the hands of Swan Hill last year with a 95-point win against its rival.
And three goals from Hayden Burgiel helped Maffra gain the upper hand in the fight for second in the West Gippsland Latrobe League in a come-from-behind five-point victory against Moe.
