GOLDEN Square and South Bendigo announced themselves as the teams to beat for the Bendigo League premiership, with wins against fellow finals aspirants. Golden Square was most impressive in dismissing premier Eaglehawk 20.23 (143) to 3.18 (36) in a rematch of last year's grand final.
South Bendigo also kept sixth-placed Kangaroo Flat to three goals in its 119-point win. Dayne Frew had a day out for the winners, kicking seven goals, while Kangaroo Flat's Justin Maddern was his side's only goalscorer.
Second-placed Gol Gol threw the Millewa League wide open by handing Bambill its first defeat of the season.
Kaleb Sherwell kicked five goals for Gol Gol in the 44-point win.
Barooga handed Murray League leader Tocumwal its second defeat of the season. The Chapman brothers, Brent and Matt, kicked 10 goals between them in the 21-point win that shores up a top-two spot for the Hawks.
Wonthaggi Power defeated Korumburra-Bena by 35 points in the Alberton League top-of-the-table clash.
Penshurst's Grant Ewing became the second senior player in country Victoria to reach the 100-goal mark after kicking six goals in his side's 65-point win against Glenthompson-Dunkeld in the Mininera League.
