Rain, glorious rain!! Not a grizzle out in the north west about the wet conditions for footy on the weekend as those on the land celebrated the precipitation.
The weather had a bit of an effect on some of the scores - but footy is a winter game. It won't be long before we have bog holes rather than dust bowls and the white away shorts are too hard to get clean.
WorkSafe Country Championships - The stand alone match between the Mallee FL and Horsham District FL is being played this weekend at Hopetoun.
The Pickering-Turner Cup is being played this Friday night. Ararat takes on Stawell in the annual Under 13 fixture. In the third year in the competition, both teams have a win each. Last year it was Ararat by a single kick.
The VCFL Under 19 State Team is taking on the VAFA on the Queen's Birthday Weekend (Sunday 13 June) at 10:30am, at Elsternwick Park in a curtain raiser to a senior match between the VAFA and Sydney AFL.
Coach Damian Sexton has assembled his team from across the WorkSafe VCFL and includes a number of bona fide stars who are playing senior football across the VCFL.
The Under 19 VCFL State team will be training this weekend at Harry Trott Reserve in Albert Park. The VCFL Under 19 team defeated the VAFA last year by 46 points in the corresponding match.
Goalkickers
Paul Breguet of North Geelong continued his good form from the Interleague match with 12 goals, while Lee Cox seems to have hit rare form in front of the sticks with another 11 for Hepburn. Grant Weeks bobs up with another 10 goals, while Dan Jordan - goalkicking legend at East Point - kicked 10 in a thumping of Darley in the Ballarat League.
