Senior Coach Peter Knights has released his initial training squad that will compete at the Landmark National Country Championships in July.
SENIOR SQUAD NAMED FOR NATIONAL COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League, Senior Coach Peter Knights and his selection panel are proud to release the initial training squad for the WorkSafe VCFL Senior State team who will be competing at the Landmark Australian Country Championships to be held in Canberra between July 22 - 25.
Knights has selected a squad that numbers 45 at present and will be cut to 25 for the National Championships.
The WorkSafe VCFL Senior State squad is drawn from the 16 Major Leagues competing in the VCFL.
Knights said that he was confident with the squad list compiled with the selection panel,
"We have been working hard across the regions to identify players in form and with a passion for representative football. We feel that the process has been very thorough with selectors at all recent interleague matches, and where possible, with spotters across the state for club matches.
"80 possible players were nominated from the WorkSafe Country Championships, and from there we have had the difficult task of whittling this down to the 45 in the initial squad."
"We will continue to monitor each player over the coming weeks at club level as we get our 25 together that we will take to Canberra to contest the National Country Championships."
"The road to the ACFC in Canberra begins this Sunday."
The WorkSafe VCFL Senior State Squad will train at the AAMI Park precinct on the following times and dates:
Sunday June 20 & 27, Sunday July 4 & 18.
