The WorkSafe VCFL is pleased to be able to announce the squad of 31 players selected in the WorkSafe VCFL Major League squad for the Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival.
25 players will be taken to Canberra for the Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival. The final squad will be announced to the public on Monday 19th July after the final training session.
Coach Peter Knights said anticipation is building ahead of the premier carnival for country footballers in the nation,
"We are under no illusions about the toughness of the competition we are about to embark on, but we are confident with the process for selection and the ability of these guys to come together on the big stage."
"All of these guys are jumping out of their skins to play representative footy for their state and to wear the Big V as we head to Canberra next week for the Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival."
Glenn Scott, CEO of the WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League said that selection at this level was a terrific achievement,
"It is a great feather in the caps of these 31 players selected. For many of these guys it will be the highest honour they will wear as a footballer, for others it may just be the launching pad to greater heights in their career."
"I thank all the players in the initial training squad for the commitment they have shown to the Vic Country team, and wish them all the best in their endeavours at the Carnival, but also for the rest of the season in their club football."
The Major League squad will be training at Harry Trott Reserve in Albert Park on Sunday 18th July from 11am. All media are welcome to watch the coach and players go through their final paces.
