Bush Footy Alert #13

vcflWell, we are getting to the pointy end of the season in the country with only a few weeks to go in the regular season before finals get underway.

First Grand Final off the ranks is the beautiful Omeo League who have their "One Day in August" at Ensay Oval - if you want a great day of bush footy I would encourage you to head up there for the festivities.

The scores from around state reflect the lateness of the season - with the strong teams tuning up and going on with matches, with those at the bottom feeling every bump as the long break beckons.

The goalkicking records keep on coming with Brad O'Connor of Robinvale joining the esteemed company of the "100 club", and a couple of big names in the wings for the next few weeks. Another big haul of 20 to Matthew Jovanovic from Bell Post Hill rounds out the highlights.

Goalkickers - The Season

Grant Weeks (11) and Lee Cox (9)continue to kick big bags for their clubs, while Brad O'Connor kicked 13 to make the ton this week. Sam La Porta from Undera kicked 9 on the weekend to get him close to the "100 club". Top placed Undera play the lowly Merrigun next weekend.

Robbo kicked 7 on the weekend, as did Damien Yze - kicking 14 goals of 17 between them. The Shepp Swans play bottom placed Shepparton this weekend - chances are...

THE RESERVES
We can't forget about the "Rezzies" at these moments of reflection - well done to Russell Gillingham at Wandella for getting over the 100, and good luck to Tony Doran from Nullawil for this weekend.

· Russell Gillingham (Wandella, Golden Rivers Football League, Reserves 2010) 14 games 102¶

· Tony Doran (Nullawil, Golden Rivers Football League, Reserves 2010) 15 games 99¶

AROUND THE GROUNDS

Central Highlands FL
4th placed Dunnstown could only managed 1.1 against 2nd placed Daylesford on the weekend. It is an aberration for Dunnstown who have had a very good year and are looking to push for some action late in the finals. They will need to be better than this.

Geelong FL
Second placed St. Mary's were beaten by Newton & Chilwell. They have now dropped a spot on the ladder close to finals and looking for the second chance. South Barwon has jumped two spots off the back of a good win against against Joeys.

Newtown & Chilwell 10.21 (81)

St Mary's 10.7 (67)
