It is all about finals footy this week in the Bush Footy Alert.
GRAND FINALS
The Omeo District Football League has their Grand Final this week at the beautiful
Ensay Oval. Bruthen were first into the final and Swifts Creek knocked out last
year's premier Swan Reach on the weekend. Swifts Creek will be desperate to make up
for the 'one that got away' last year. Locals say that it will be a cracker of a
match and very hard to call.
PRELIM FINALS
Picola District FL - North West: Top finisher Yarroweyah won their way through to
the Grand Final after defeating Berrigan on the weekend by just 3 points. Berrigan
have the second chance this weekend against Strathmerton for a spot in the Grand
Final. Berrigan lost the 2009 Grand Final by 3 points and will be stinging to get
another shot at it.
Upper Murray FNL - Up in the hills, the dominant Bullioh is through to the big one.
2nd and 3rd placed Border Walwa and Federal play on the weekend for the right to
take on the reigning premier. Bullioh looking to make it 3 in a row in 2010.
Warrnambool and District FNL - Dennington through to the Grand Final, while much
fancied Kolora-Noorat must get past Panmure this weekend to defend their title.
Lexton Plains FNL - In the last year of the Lexton Football League, 3rd placed
Lexton has hurdled the much fancied Skipton to get to the Grand Final. Skipton must
beat Rokewood Cornidhap to defend their title - anything less than a premiership
will be seen as a failure for the proud club at Skipton.
Heathcote District FNL - Undefeated Heathcote are through to the Grand Final with a
week's rest, while 2nd and 3rd placed Lockington-Bamawn United and Elmore will have
another tough stoush for the other spot in the Grand Final this weekend. Heathcote
is another club looking to go back-to-back.
OTHER FINALS
Every other Senior League in the WorkSafe VCFL are playing finals this weekend
(except the Goulburn Valley FL)
THE GOOSE ALERT!!
As we get into finals time in the country, we again wish to remind everyone to watch
their behavior at venues across the state. Too often the boorish behavior of a few
can spoil the day for the rest of the fans and participants during the finals.
Leagues across the state are not going to tolerate patrons acting like a goose at
the country footy this finals series.
The VCFL has distributed material to all leagues based around our finals slogan -
"Don't Be A Goose...Watch The Abuse."
