The VCFL Bush Footy Alert - At the Ground, In the Huddle & Around the Boundary
PINK FOOTY & NETBALL DAY
Thanks to all clubs and leagues that participated in Pink Footy & Netball Day across the VCFL.
I know that the women and families of our communities that are affected by breast cancer appreciated the show of solidarity form country football and netball shown over the weekend - and many more women enjoyed special activities and functions dedicated to them.
Their has been some wonderful images coming in this morning from around the state showing how clubs 'painted the town pink' to promote their footy and netball over the weekend.
BCNA will be the recipient of well deserved fundraising from the sport to continue their support of women with cancer.
Well done to all the mum's that give tirelessly so their kids can play footy. What would we do without them?
THANKS UMP!
This weekend in the AFL and across all community football competitions in Australia is 'Thanks Ump' round where everyone is being reminded that they have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the match day environment and through this a role in assisting to recruit and retain umpires.
AFL Director of Coaching Peter Schwab has said this week, "umpires have a huge responsibility to the game, in particular at junior level where their capacity to control the game is paramount to the enjoyment and safety of all young participants.
"Therefore they must be supported in this endeavour as their role is as important as anyone else in the game."
A number of 'country identities' and league administrators will be taking the whistle to hand this weekend in a show of support for local umpire associations (and to see how hard it is!) across many regions of the state.
We would appreciate the support of media to push out good positive umpiring stories this week to promote the initiative.
