The WorkSafe VCFL congratulates all players, coaches and support staff that participated in the State Representative Matches today at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton. Matches were played in overcast conditions in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

The VCFL Vic1 vs VAFA game for the Brian Molony Cup again lived up to its billing as the tightest contest in community footy with a narrow 6 point defeat to the home team. Scores could have gone either way in the last minutes of the match after a Grant Weeks 4 goal haul in the third quarter got the VCFL back into the match on the scoreboard.

The David Code Medallist was Justin Berry of Cranbourne FC in the MPNFL.
Grant Weeks of Golden Square was named by the VAFA as the Best Country Player.

The new look VCFL Vic2 team under first time coach John Cossar had an emphatic win. The VCFL were dominant in nearly every position in the curtain raiser match, finishing the game off as 74 point victors.

Brad Wilson of West Gambier was awarded the Bob Templeton Medal.

Brad Eaton of Irymple was awarded the VAFA medal as selected by the opposition.

In a very entertaining and tense match, the VCFL Under 19 team only broke free from the VAFA in the last quarter to streak out to a 28 point win.

Peter Knights will be available tonight and tomorrow morning for comment and interview. He is then taking a well earned break with his family. The VCFL will release some quotes on Monday from Peter regarding the VCFL Vic1 match. John Cossar and Damian Sexton will be available for interviews on the numbers below.
