KATE WALSH
GOLDEN SQUARE
The netball community has much to offer players - developing and enhancing skills, friendships, a feeling of belonging – and this is why Kate Walsh joined the Golden Square netballers on court in 2003.
Last Saturday, in Round 12 against Maryborough, Kate achieved the 50 game milestone with the blue and gold. The four-year journey to such an achievement has been fraught with difficulties but in the face of life’s adversity Kate has throughout remained strong, positive and committed.
In 2004 Kate was diagnosed with a life threatening illness that caused her to miss the season. In February 2005 Kate’s medical treatment was completed and it only took a few weeks before she was back on the training track. It took much of that season for Kate to regain her fitness and still she managed to play in the finals.
After Round 9 in 2006 Kate once again had to give up her netball to undergo surgery. Forced onto the sidelines, Kate added to her social committee duties the role of B Grade team manager. In true sporting spirit Kate was back on court in the last quarter of the grand final to enjoy the spoils of her and her team mates efforts holding aloft the premiership cup.
The 2007 season has been a happy one for Kate with life back to normal. Saturday’s are devoted to the Golden Square Football Netball Club as Kate continues to support her husband Darren in his pursuit of football glory whilst being a vital member of the netball structure.
Kate’s team will contest Kangaroo Flat today for the honour of holding top spot outright on the Bendigo Bank-backed B Grade ladder.
Congratulations Kate, you will receive a $50 voucher to open a new bank account with the Bendigo Bank.
