Echuca United kept its strong form going in the Murray Football League after a hard-fought 9.10 (64) to 5.8 (38) win against Nathalia at Echuca South.
The Eagles were well on top in the first quarter of their match and it looked like they would go on to record a big win, but the Purples fought back from a 21-point opening deficit to eight points by the long break, but late in the third term United kicked away and went on to win by 26 points.
Guy Campbell, in his first game for the club after moving from Rochester, kicked four goals in the forward line, while Farran Priest and Scott Beattie each kicked two.
Beattie starred for the team, while defenders Jake Guinan and Daniel Cavallaro were impressive.
For the Purples, youngster Bowen Smith booted two majors, while Matt Davies, Wade Hicks and Tom Nihill fought hard.
■ A six-goal third quarter helped Tongala secure its fourth win of the season as it defeated Barooga 16.14 (110) to 8.11 (59).
Jordan Souter and Andrew Reid kicked four goals apiece for the winners, with Souter starring in the midfield and was ably helped by James Cullum and Jarrad Denham.
Chase Saunders was held to three goals for the Hawks, while Ben Robbins, James Hazelman and Sam Ryan were their team's best.
■ Moama was unable to force its way into the top six after falling to Numurkah 20.7 (126) to 13.6 (84), thanks to a blistering 10-goal opening term by the Blues.
Mark Brown (six), Brent Chapman (four) and Dylan Grandell (three) were the main threats up forward for the home side, who was led by Mitchell Jones, Corey Dunn and Jack Miechel.
Magpie youngster Lachy Schultz again stood out for his team and was its leading goal-kicker with three majors, while Xavier Kelly and Daniel Thorp also fought hard.
■ The highly anticipated game of the round saw ladder-leader Mulwala hold off Deniliquin Rams to win 12.12 (84) to 9.6 (60).
Four goals to two in each of the second and third terms helped the Lions to the win, led by Dean Bigger, Michael Duiker and Kyle Archibald (three goals). Anthony Giuliano also booted three majors.
Nick Howe, Brayden Hall and Blair Whelan were the Rams' best.
■ Cobram kicked 12 goals to one in the first half as it coasted to a 21.13 (139) to 7.8 (50) win against Rumbalara.
Tom Thorsen, Ben Ryan, Dean Norris and Dylan Ryan all kicked three goals for the winners, while Tom Crapp and Daniel McIntyre were influential.
Justin Terlich, Ash Miller and Levi Power were impressive for Rumba.
■ The final game saw Finley smash Tocumwal 24.25 (169) to 4.1 (25).
Ollie Ford starred for the Cats in a best-on-ground performance with six goals, while Reid Crowe and Shaun Kable also impressed, while Tim Robertson and Kamen Ogilvie kicked seven goals between them.
Adrian Hickey, Daniel Carey and Jacob Hore were the Bloods' best.
