Echuca came back from a slow start to challenge the Shepparton Swans, but was never able to take the lead in the 10.12 (72) to 8.7 (55) loss.

After remaining scoreless in the opening term, the Murray Bombers trailed by 27 points at the long break but were held off by the visitors.

Andrew Riordan, Matt Tinkler and Quade Johnstone were the best for the Swans and Daniel Campbell kicked three goals, while Tom Monahan, Simon Buckley and Rhys Archard tried hard for Echuca.

■ Rochester will bemoan a slow start after falling nine points short at home to Mooroopna, 14.11 (95) to 16.8 (104).

The Tigers trailed by 18, 17 and 22 points at the first three breaks before kicking four goals to two in the final term.

Rob Osborne, Mitch Keddell and Daniel Lewis kicked 10 goals between them, while Mark Blake, Karl Lohde and Dean Smith impressed.

Grant Weeks and Luke Gestier kicked nine goals between them, while the team's best were James Brain, Nick Knight and Sam Vale.

■ A nine-goal final term saw Kyabram blitz Seymour 18.12 (120) to 10.10 (70) after they led by just six points at the final break.

Xavier Hilton was best on for the visitors, with Paul Newman (six goals), Josh Linton (three goals) and Simon Seddon (three goals) were equally prominent.

■ Shepparton United and Benalla played out a thrilling draw after the Saints held the Demons to just one behind in the final quarter, 12.10 (82) to 11.16 (82).

The home team enjoyed sizeable leads at both the first and third breaks, but was unable to hold on.

Jason Eagle was the leading goal-kicker on the ground with three majors, with Matt Rendina, Matt DiBella and Sam Dawes impressing, while James Martiniello, Zach Pallpratt and Jackson Hourigan were the best for Benalla.

■ Mansfield continued its positive approach to matches to claim its second win of the season, defeating Shepparton 19.11 (125) to 7.10 (52).

Ben Fagan was best on ground for the Eagles and kicked four goals alongside Josh Fraser and Steven Cox, while Mark Jones and James Herridge also impressed.

Sean Harrap booted four majors for the visitors, while Ash Holland, Sam Bowmaker and Mitch Brett were the Bears' best.

■ The final game saw Tatura defeat Euroa 15.14 (104) to 10.6 (66) after kicking six goals to two in the final term.

Tim Lanyon, Rian McGough and Bill Hicks led the way for the Bulldogs, with Nick Grigg also kicking four goals, while Nick Snowdon, Matt Quinton and Craig Bamford were the best for the Magpies.

Luke Hyatt also kicked five goals.
