It was an ultimately disappointing day for Echuca as it fell away in the second half against Euroa at Vic Park today, as the visitors won 11.17 (83) to 9.6 (60).
The Magpies deserved their victory and the margin could have been much greater if they had been more accurate in front of goal, but the Murray Bombers would have left the ground ruing a missed opportunity.
Matt Ivill and David King kicked two each for the winners, who were led by Craig Bamford, Gareth Fricker and King.
Matt Pollock, Rhys Archard and Simon Buckley were the stars for the home side, while Archard was also the game's leading goal-kicker with three.
■ The only other Goulburn Valley Football League game saw Shepparton Swans comfortably defeat Mansfield 19.13 (127) to 11.9 (75).
Six goals in the first and third terms proved the difference for the Swans, with Brodie A'Vard playing a starring role to be best on ground with six goals.
Daniel Campbell also snagged four majors and Quade Johnstone and Mitch Bell also impressed.
Michael Handby tried hard for the Eagles, as did Steve Cox (five goals) and Gerard Hogarth.
Adam Boshevski also kicked three majors.
