The Mallee Football League moves into round 6 this Saturday with Ouyen United
traveling south to take on the Beulah behemoth.
After a week off with the bye, the Demons will be hoping for a full strength side to take on the ladder leaders. New recruit ruckman, Tim Darcy has proven his worth over his past few weeks and appears crucial to the success of the Beulah midfield.
Along with Shaun Monohan, he will prove to be a player to closely monitor. Ouyen have shown that they can be hard to stop once they get their tails up, and boasting a tall and in form forward line headed by Lawrence Angwin, could be difficult to contain.
If Beulah can't get their structures working early, the hard running Ouyen outfit could turn this match into a shoot out.
With two wins on the trot, Hopetoun will be confident of a third win when they host Sea Lake-Nandaly Tigers for the second match of the round. The Tigers will be hurting from last weeks shock drubbing at the hands of Beulah, and will no doubt be wanting to make a statement against the lesser experienced Devils.
The Tigers forward line was starved of opportunities last week, but the Devils will have a take on their hands trying to contain the likes of Jarrod Arentz, Cliff Ryan, and Simon Weekly.
The Devils midfield has started to gel together and will need to run back to
assist their defenders. Liam Price and Jackson Fisher have been finding plenty of
the ball and will be hoping Coleman Schache is available again to assist them.
The final match of the round sends Jeparit-Rainbow east to take on Woomelang-Lascelles. The Cats, having only dropped one game for the year, are traveling nicely and have been getting the job done easily each week. The Lakers
have been playing some good footy, but have so far struggled to put in 4 consistent quarters.
They have been starting games well thanks to the efforts of Elliot Bath
and Nathan Cocks who have regularly featured in the best players.
Woomelang-Lascelles are an experienced side and have had good contributions from players all over the ground. Corey Kelly has been difficult for all teams to
contain, and Anthony Foott has been controlling the defensive 50 with ease. If the Lakers can keep to their game plan working over the full course of the match, this game could come to an interesting conclusion.
