League Review | The Colbinabbin Grasshoppers have leapt to fourth on the A-grade netball ladder after victory in Saturday’s seventh round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League season.
Colbinabbin played inspired netball on Huntly’s court at Strauch Reserve to score a 55-39 victory. The Hawks went into the match as favourite, but it was the Grasshoppers who marked a hat-trick of wins and also pushed Huntly to the fifth rung in league standings. It’s a new-look Colbinabbin which has kept improving each week.
Lockington Bamawm United marked its second win of the season after a 27-goal win against an under-strength North Bendigo.
The Jessie Hardess-coached LBU started well to lead 14-8 at the first break and went on to win 52-25.
Playing coach of the Cats, Hardess was rapt with her team’s form, but also disappointed North Bendigo was without several key players.
LBU will now chase consecutive victories when it heads across to Colbinabbin next Saturday.
