Gippsland FNLMatch Reviews | SALE secured its second win of the Gippsland League netball season, defeating Warragul 66-37 at home on Saturday.

Scores at Sale Oval were level after the first quarter before the Magpies stormed away in the second, scoring 21 goals to five. The home side extended its lead as the game progressed, eventually winning by 29.

Ashleigh Keefe did a power of work for Sale in defence to be named the Magpies’ best-on-court, while Eve Sabell and Kate Van der Voort were outstanding in attack, with the latter scoring 54 goals.

The win gives ninth-placed Sale more breathing space from winless Warragul, with 10 points now separating them.

Best for the Gulls were goal attack Amelia Henry, goal keeper Olivia Barr and wing defence Brooke Cahill.

Seventh-placed Maffra remains 10 points outside the top five after a 67-31 loss at Leongatha.

The Eagles trailed by only a goal at quarter-time before the Parrots surged, scoring double-figure amounts in each remaining quarter while keeping the visitors to single figures.

Best for the Parrots were Nicola Marriott, Jayde Hall and Amy Scott (33 goals), with Elly Weatherley (20 goals), Linley Bertacchini and Jayde Parsons best for the Eagles.

There was some drama in the C Grade game, which ended two minutes early.

It is understood tensions boiled over to the point where some players began engaging in rough conduct.
