Weekly Advertiser | A three-goal win to Dimboola over Horsham on Saturday meant more than just earning the four points in Wimmera league A Grade netball – it has provided the Roos with confidence to know they can match with the best.

It’s been a topsy-turvy season for the Roos – losing games many thought they would win and causing upsets, such as Saturday’s result.

In front of their home crowd, Dimboola pulled it together to lead by a couple of goals early and was able to hold that margin for most of the game, withstanding a Demons’ comeback in the last quarter.

Dimboola A Grade coach Ant Toet said players were ecstatic after the win over the Demons, who had the wood over them in recent encounters.

“It’s a really nice feeling to beat someone above you on the ladder, and also someone that we had a bit of history against,” she said.

The Roos also used the game to expose junior players such as Emily Taylor, Giselle Clugston and Tamika Greig to a high-pressure match.

“You can only learn so much from the bench – the opening has come after we’ve lost Maddie Marra, which possibly has opened that door for Giselle to get more court time,” Toet said.
