Match Previews | The Hampden Football Netball League was delighted to host a Respect in Sport education session this week, with coaches, players, officials and umpires from across the competition taking part in a valuable evening of learning.

Delivered by Netball Victoria as part of a pilot program that is hoped to be rolled out across the state, the session placed a strong emphasis on creating a positive sporting environment through quality umpiring, coaching and off-court officiating. Participants were fortunate to hear from an outstanding panel of presenters, including Melbourne Mavericks coach Gerard Murphy, Melbourne Vixens Academy coach Wendy Jacobson, Ally O'Connor and respected umpire educator Cathy Gallop.

The session provided plenty of practical takeaways and reinforced the importance of respect, communication and leadership in ensuring everyone enjoys a positive experience within the game. The Hampden FNL thanks Netball Victoria and all presenters for delivering such an informative and engaging program.

Congratulations also to our newest C Badge accredited umpires, Kim Wines, Holly Jones, Pippa Barr and Phoebe Whitmann. Achieving accreditation is a fantastic milestone and reflects the commitment each has shown to developing their umpiring skills.
