Horsham District FNLWeekly Advertiser | The tightness of Horsham District league’s A Grade netball finals race was on display at the weekend as Natimuk United earned a vital one-goal win against fellow contender Harrow-Balmoral.

The Rams and Roos are two of four teams vying for the fifth finals berth, with Laharum, Noradjuha-Quantong, Edenhope-Apsley and Kalkee secure in the top four positions.

Also in the mix for fifth place are Pimpinio and Kaniva-Leeor United, who will play each other in a round 18 blockbuster.

But for now fifth place belongs to Natimuk United, thanks to its heart-stopping 39-38 win at the weekend.

Coach Danielle Hanson admitted she let out ‘a massive sigh of relief’ when the final whistle sounded, after the Roos had come back from a five-goal quarter-time deficit to take the lead in the last quarter.

“Any longer and they might’ve had us, because it was just goal for goal in that last quarter. They really evened it out,” she said.

“We knew it was going to be a tough match from the start – we knew they’d come out firing because we both had a chance to make finals, so winning that game was a must for both of us.

“As you can see, there wasn’t much between us on the day.”
