Weekly Advertiser | Ask coaches of all five Horsham District A Grade netball finals sides and they will tell you the same thing – the competition has never been closer.
On Saturday, second and third-placed sides Noradjuha-Quantong and Edenhope-Apsley will meet in a qualifying final at Kalkee, while an elimination final between Kalkee and Pimpinio is at Harrow on Sunday and minor premier Laharum has a week off.
But finals seeding has never mattered less in the eyes of the league’s coaches.
Laharum co-coach Brooke Taylor and Noradjuha-Quantong coach Taylor Shelley said each of the finals sides were capable of beating each other ‘on any given day’, while Pimpinio co-coach Hayley Hatcher said it was ‘the first time in a while’ she had seen such a close top five, and Kalkee coach Millie McCrae declared finals were ‘anyone’s game’.
As Edenhope-Apsley coach Lavinia Fox pointed out, a circle of parity between this year’s finalists is easy to draw – during the home-and-away season, Kalkee beat Laharum, which beat Noradjuha-Quantong, which beat Edenhope-Apsley, which beat Pimpinio, which beat Kalkee.
With so little separating the sides, composure and clear-headedness in the heat of finals will be all-important.
