Geelong Times | ST Joseph’s captain Elli Leydin is back on court at the perfect time as her side starts chasing a deep run in September.
Leydin missed several weeks with a foot injury before returning to the court recently, taking advantage of a run of byes to give herself time to recover.
After watching her teammates from the sidelines, she said returning to the court has been a welcome feeling.
“I’ve always led by example, so it does feel different [on the sidelines] but I was pretty happy sitting there watching the girls,” she said.
“Especially against Newtown, they just really played well together as a team and stood up.”
With two home and away games remaining, St Joseph’s sit second on the Geelong Football Netball League ladder and Leydin said the team is focused on building momentum despite a disrupted fixture.
Leydin said the group has used the extra byes this year to stay connected and maintain its focus.
As finals near, she said there will be no dramatic change in the team’s approach.
