Ocean Grove showed just how far it has come this season when it toppled Queenscliff on Saturday.

After a close victory over Queenscliff earlier in the season, the Grubbers were eager to improve on that this time around - and did so with a comprehensive 58-35 win.

Ocean Grove coach Renee Scott was happy with her side's effort.

"It was a good game for the girls. I think they've really come together over the past few weeks," she said.

"The team has finally settled and that's reflected in great performances out on court."

Defenders Kelsey Ollis, Allison Durling and Michelle Saunders have solidified as a back line in recent weeks, collectively generating turnovers and intercepts that Sarah Breed helped turn into scoring opportunities.

Ocean Grove has had to work hard this season in the face of many interruptions.

"It has been a disruptive year for our A-Grade side, with injury, illnesses and unexpected travel," Scott said. "We're just looking to finish the season off by exceeding some of our own expectations."

In the coming weekend's final round, Ocean Grove will play Torquay, which will be looking to win to boost confidence prior to finals.

But Scott says her girls, too, will be looking for a solid conclusion to the season.

"We'll be looking to put up a good performance, and win or lose, as long as we leave that court with our heads held high, that's what we'll take from the season," she said.

Queenscliff coach Jamie Ryan said her under-strength side struggled to find the drive to win against Ocean Grove without finals as an incentive.

"We're re-adjusting and making some changes that are taking a little while to take effect," she said.

"At this end of the season and knowing we're out of finals contention, I think we just found ourselves a bit flat."

Ryan will call on her side to dig deep against ladder leader Modewarre this weekend.

"Our position on the ladder doesn't really reflect how we've played," she said. "We have nothing to lose when we play Modewarre. I think we will bounce back from the Ocean Grove game."
