SALE defeated Moe 41-32 in the Gippsland League netball match of the day.

Both teams went in with good form. Moe, who has recruited well, was coming off a win over Traralgon, while Sale had a good win at Drouin.

It was a testing match for Sale, who went into the game without Kate Eddy and Lara Dunkley, who have been selected in the Victorian Flames team to take part in the national open age competition in July and August.

Tori Dessent, who has been playing well, was also unavailable.

After a goal for goal opening term, the two teams were locked together at quarter time on nine all.

Sale got its winning break in the second quarter, scoring 15 goals to five to lead by 10 at the main break. Sale had the edge again in the third term, scoring nine goals to eight, but Moe kept working with a 10 to eight final term.

Sale defenders Mel Johnston and Staci Scott combined well with good rebounding forcing turnovers while in attack, goal shooter Fiona Van der Snoek and goal attack Julie Gerrand combined well to set up Sale's winning score.

Mid court players Taryn Cunninghame, Tianna Hogan and Felicity Hasthorpe all played well, while Layla Simmons, up from the under 17s, did well at wing defence for three quarters.

Maffra lost to ladder leader Morwell 42-28.

Bairnsdale defeated Traralgon 34-26.

Wonthaggi had a 51-48 win over Drouin.
