BAIRNSDALE defeated Sale in a keenly fought Gippsland League A grade netball match on Saturday night, the Redlegs taking the points 33-28.
With the match all square 8-8 at quarter-time, Bairnsdale took a one-point lead into half time. Sale took a two-goal lead in the third, but Bairnsdale steadied with goal shooter Zanna Jodlowski the difference, shooting long goals.
Bairnsdale moved into second place with the win, while Sale dropped to third.
Traralgon defeated Maffra 47-36 to move to fourth place on the ladder.
The Maroons drew level on points with Sale, each with four wins and two losses.
Leongatha, who scored a big win over Drouin 57-36, and Wonthaggi, who scraped home over Moe 51-50, continue to put pressure on teams inside the top five.
Undefeated Morwell, who had the bye, are on top of the ladder.

ROSEDALE held off a challenge from Woodside to remain undefeated after seven rounds of North Gippsland netball
The Blues won 40-38.
Gormandale is in second place after its 53-41 win over Traralgon-Tyers United.
Sale City won a thriller against Glengarry, 46-45.
In another thriller, Cowwarr defeated Heyfield 31-30.
Yarram proved too strong for Boisdale-Briagolong, winning 50-36.

In the other match of the day, Lucknow defeated Lucknow 52-34.
