wodongaBorder Mail | WODONGA superstar Ben Hollands is not planning on a sensational return to the Bulldogs’ senior team, but didn’t rule out the possibility yesterday.

The Wodonga premiership player and former coach has played two games in the reserves in recent weeks, but said he had no plans of making a senior comeback.

“It’s really just a bit of fun for me at this stage, I’ve been wanting to get out and have a kick for a while now,” he said.

“There’s still a competitive instinct there, but at this stage it’s more about having a bit of fun and staying involved with the club.”

Hollands kicked four goals in the reserves game against Corowa- Rutherglen in round 5, before again featuring in the round 7 win over Myrtleford, kicking a goal and being named among the Bulldogs’ best.

Hollands needs to play just one more senior game with the Bulldogs to reach the 100-game milestone, but said he was content to play reserves unless senior coach Dean Harding called on his services.

“I’d love to get back out in the senior side, but I’m not going to put a timeframe or anything on that,” he said.

“I just want to enjoy playing footy.

“The club has been through a few tough years and so have I, so it’s good to be able to relax and enjoy being out on the park.

“The reserves were a bit short ahead of the Corowa game which is why I came back, and for much of the season the twos have fielded a pretty young side.

“It was nice to be able to come back and help out the club.”

The 37-year old would be a valuable inclusion for the Bulldogs as they look to make the top five, but Hollands was cool about speculation that he would play this weekend.

“We’ll wait and see what happens, but for now it’s just about getting on the park and enjoying my footy.”
